10 Things You Need if You’re Expecting 10 Things You Need if You’re Expecting
A list of mommy-approved items that are a must-have for pregnancy
If you’re pregnant, the first thing you might do is google “What do I need?” If you’ve stumbled upon this article, you’re in the right place! Here is our go-to list of a few necessities that we recommend for maternity life!
Tell us in the comments below, which is your favorite?
1. Prenatal Vitamins
This is a great place to start, because Prenatal Vitamins are a MUST if you’re growing a tiny human in your belly! Because vitamins are not FDA regulated, there are a lot of “vitamins” that don’t exactly do the job that they say they do. Here a couple of Prenatals that are all-natural, and do the trick:

2. Nausea / Morning Sickness Remedies
Morning sickness is NO JOKE! It’s a struggle to even get out of bed some mornings. Some mamas are lucky enough to not have morning (all day) sickness. If you’re one of those, scroll to the next necessity. If you’re not so lucky, here’s a good recommendation for that pesky nausea:
3. Pregnancy Pillow
They might be expensive, but just buy the pregnancy pillow. Trust me, if you don’t, you’ll regret it! Around week 27-30, you’ll be kicking yourself, wondering why you didn’t just listen to all the mamas that said “just get the pregnancy pillow.” Here’s one we like:
4. Maternity Clothes
You may be able to make it a while before you need to buy maternity clothes, but chances are, you’re too excited to wait. Just keep in mind that if you buy them early, you will grow. Some of us can get away with putting a hair elastic through the buttonhole on our favorite jeans. But if you’re just too excited, here are a couple of closet staples to have:
5. Water Bottle
No matter how many trends change during pregnancy, one thing will always stay the same: YOU NEED TO STAY HYDRATED! Might as well do it in style. Here are some cute water bottle/jug options:
6. Pregnancy Journal
They call it pregnancy brain for a good reason. You are likely to be very forgetful during your pregnancy, and there will be moments you want to remember forever! A pregnancy journal is a good way to keep all your thoughts, and a record of things that happen throughout your pregnancy. Here’s an option:
7. Itch Lotion / Belly Butter
Another thing that is bound to happen? Your skin will stretch! And that might cause some discomfort or itching. There are a lot of essential oil recipes on the internet if you are a DIY mama and want to make your own. If not, here’s a good option:
8. Pregnancy Photo Shoot
A lot of mamas think they don’t want a maternity shoot because they’re afraid they will look so big. But if you ask most women who have children, if they didn’t have maternity photos taken, they regret it. Any investment made into making memories is never a bad thing. A lot of mamas are starting to put a maternity shoot on their registry so that people can contribute to the cost of a photographer

9. Maternity Shapewear / Bra Extenders
Want to save your wardrobe and some money? Maternity shapewear will save your dresses from pregnancy lumps and bumps! And it is also super comfortable!
Bra extenders will SAVE your wallet, too! Instead of having to buy all new bras, you can just order some of these, and wear your trusty bra that’s already in your closet!
10. Pantry Supplies / Birds and Bees Teas
The first thing you might be reaching for in your second trimester is the antacids. But another common symptom in pregnancy is constipation, and antacids have a little-known side-effect of constipation. So…you may get rid of your heartburn, but you might also make your bowels hate you a little more! A really great, natural option for soothing heartburn is Apple Cider Vinegar!
And you can’t go wrong with Birds and Bees Teas for pregnancy!
We're so excited for you and your baby! The pregnancy journey is unique to every woman so tell us what you love the most during your pregnancy!
