Summer Travel Tips Summer Travel Tips

It is hard to believe we are already halfway through summer!  We hope you’re enjoying the long days, beautiful sunshine and the energy of summer.  With travel season well upon us and Labor Day travel weekend just around the corner, we wanted to provide some tips to help make traveling easier.

Summer Travel Tips

  • Roll your clothing to help fit more into your luggage
  • Packing cubes also maximize space
  • Get some brand new toys for your children (or save back some birthday or holiday gifts until you go on a trip!)  They’ll be more entertained by something new.  Consider “releasing” the new toys gradually during the trip
  • Make a packing list (you can find some really cute printables on Pinterest)
  • Bring along Family Immunity Tea to keep up your immune system!  (getting sick while traveling is SO common)
  • Take a photo of everything you packed (especially if traveling internationally)-  This way if anything goes missing you can show the airline exactly what the item was
  • Soap Nuts or Dizolve Laundry strips are great options for laundry- they’re both super compact and not liquid
  • If you have food allergies or sensitivities, call ahead to your hotel/motel, many places are more than willing to accommodate special needs for breakfast.  (Make sure to do some research on safe places to eat and get groceries at your destination too!)
  • Help the whole family sleep better in a new and unfamiliar place with Easy Naps Calm Nights
  • Don’t forget to bring all your vitamins and supplements!!!
  • Make sure to pack lots of snacks- (Buzzfeed has some ideas here, for our Paleo readers check out all these ideas from My Natural Family )
  • Bring along Inner Peace and Light Hearted to help with any digestive issues while traveling!
  • Don’t forget the car seat!  Some taxis and Uber-type companies provide them, but not always.  Make sure to check first!
  • Pack an extra change of clothes for baby AND parents in your carry on  (babies seem to have a knack for getting you super messy when traveling)
  • Shampoo bars (like those from MIG Soap & Body Co. ) are awesome- they can be used as shampoo, body soap and a shaving bar- saves loads of space in your luggage, won’t leak and no worries about carry on size!
  • Cookie sheets and magnetic lunch boxes can turn into awesome toys for older children with magnets, magnetic dry-erase markers and more
  • Bring along a travel infuser mug, or travel strainer to make your herbal teas on the road! (Gas stations will almost always let you use hot water from the coffee maker for free)
  • Snacks, snacks, water, snacks and more snacks for kiddos!!
  • Pack a set of reusable utensils per person so you don’t have to have the waste of plastic wear (there are lots of great “travel” packs out there)
  • Make sure to pack a water bottle and stay hydrated!
